My name is Mr. Tilzey. I have been teaching for 18 years. This year is my 19th year. Last year I taught Health, but my chosen field has always been math. I have taught everything from general math up to pre-calculus. This year I am just teaching Geometry.
I graduated from Nampa Christian High school in 1987 and then from George Fox University near Portland Oregon 4 years later. Since then I have received my master's degree from the University of Phoenix.
As a high school and college student I participated in many sports. My main sport was long distance running. In track I won the state championship 2 mile race and went on to place high in my college national cross-country meet.
I have also been an electrician, furniture store manager, and currently a deputy sheriff and a real estate agent. I am also a basketball official.

I am offering to stay later than usual on Thursdays every week to help students get caught up or improve their grades. I have adjusted my schedule so this will be possible. Most days I have to leave by 3:00PM to pick up my own children, but I will stay until 4:00 or 4:30 on Thursdays if necessary to give your children another opportunity to succeed.
Please encourage your child to either join homework club or to see me on Thursdays if your child is behind or has a low grade in my class.
Homework club is a school-wide opportunity to get help from qualified teachers in each core subject area. We are now offering homework club Monday - Friday mornings at 7:00 and we still have after school homework club as well. I also believe that we have a lunch club as well.

Please remind your children that when class time is given to do work, they must take advantage of the time given and use it productively. Many students use the excuse that they will do the work at home, but other students are distracted when friends are not working.
It is a discipline issue if work is not being completed when class time is given. Students will find their names on the discipline log and parents may be notified of the issue.
